Bruiser, Whidbey’s Lone Elk
Bruiser is the name of a well-known, lone bull elk that has been living on Whidbey Island, Washington, for more than a decade.
He has become a local celebrity for his solitary presence and has lived on the Whidbey Island since swimming across Skagit Bay from the mainland around 2012. Other than being the only Elk as his claim to fame, he also over the years has become entangled in various items, including a tarp, bicycles, and yard art. In one notable incident in 2017, he had to be tranquilized and freed by wildlife officials after getting a buoy and mooring line stuck in his antlers.
This particular escapade is the inspiration for our Elk tile from the Whidbey Flora & Fauna line.
What a silly billy.
